I made this after finding out the reason we couldn't see the final season of sailor moon was because of the horrible edits done to it and I agree I see anime as an art hence my use of the Venus De Milo for this
Agreed I tend to watch anime dubbed if the dvds are out for those eps or there not on tv as they tend to air on tv before dvds, if not I tend to watch what eps aren't dubbed in there sub form.
Tho theres afew series never dubbed so I settle with subs or afew eps never dubbed I settle with subs. Then again if its a horrid dub and/or over edited[A.K.A 4kids and disney dubbs] I settle with subs
I do enjoy subbed anime in some aspects better VA wise as for example in the most popular anime at the moment bleach Hichigo's English VA don't fit for a villein/anti hero/inner darkside thing
while Hichigo's Raw VA fits alot better better
Chads most resent English VA[if not the same va] lacks a Mexican'ish feel to it by now when it used to have it in other words lacks even a slight ascent as no one completely looses a escent that and it don't change so quick.
While Chad Raw VA oddly seems to have a Mexican'ish ascent to his voice
Don't get my wrong I'm not an ''insufferable weeaboo who's deluded perceptions of linguistic superiority are horrendously skewed far away from actual reality!'' Its just some VA's can be lacking in somethings at times
But something funny is theres times dub Va's top the original sometimes names of things aswell, this coming from someone normally neutral on the endless subject/argument/debate of dubs vs. subbs/raw.
Well that would be stupid,I mean anyone that spent most of there childhood around where most speak for example Spanish or German you would more so then not retain atleast a 1.00 or 0.99 percent of the accent even when you became old and gray
You do know theres afew good dubbing companies that do very little if any censoring/editing it, not to forget uncut dvd box sets, right?!
Now some anime scenes does call for editing for example the lesbian scene in Sailor moon,I have nothing against lesbians but the anime even in Japan is a kids program and the fact is back then and still is a touchy subject in most programs. Basically it was a wise call there on the dubbing company's part to keep people from jumping the gun so to speak on that fact.
I like both dubbed and subtitled anime I at timers prefer dubs over subs others I prefer subs over dubs depending on factors,I do got to admit some dubbed anime if nothing else has a better soundtrack
